Job Description

Be responsible for the design and delivery of database technology to solve business needs.
Maintain effective internal control of the database involving implementation, tuning, throughput, optimization, security and integrity of the environment.
Extensive knowledge and experience in development and/or application based troubleshooting in SQL server.
Demonstrated experience in application support with industry knowledge of ITIL service management principles.
Extensive technical understanding that spans multiple platforms and application level expertise of a portfolio of applications with broad knowledge of the business strategic priorities, in order to resolve complex problems.
The SQL workload has transitioned to Azure PaaS so it is critical the resource has hands-on experience supporting DBs in Azure
PostgreSQL experience a plus.

Qualifications:

7+ years of experience in MS SQL Azure environments, including Azure SQL PaaS.
Strong background in SQL development, including writing and troubleshooting stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, and constraints.
Expertise in analyzing SQL execution plans to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Hands-on experience with Performance Monitor, Extended Events, and other monitoring/troubleshooting tools.
Skilled in query optimization, blocking and deadlock resolution, and diagnosing performance issues in critical scenarios.
Proficient in troubleshooting database integrity, replication, log shipping, connectivity, and security issues.
Strong understanding of Azure backup and restore processes (local and remote Azure SQL servers).
Familiarity with Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) in backup/restore operations and implementation.

Knowledge of:

Entra ID authentication
Azure SQL Server network security
Azure networking principles
Expert-level experience in operational automation for database administration.
Required knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
Familiarity with third-party DBA tools such as Toad, pgAdmin, DBeaver, dbForge, and Visual Studio.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (preferred)."
