The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is seeking to hire a Well Inspector for the Office of Oil and Gas Resource Management. This position will interpret and implement Department rules and advise permittees on regulatory and statutory requirements of the Department; monitor tests pertaining to well construction, drilling procedures, and operation of equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements; conduct follow-up inspections to assure that remedial actions are properly corrected within specific time frames; inspect flow lines and injection lines for leaks of oil or salt water and monitors remedial measures for prevention of leaks to ensure consistency with regulations. The Office of Oil and Gas Resource Management regulates the injection of fluids into underground injection wells, through the Underground Injection Control Program, and cleans up abandoned well sites through the Plugging and Restoration Fund and Landowner Grant Programs. Through these three programs, the Office ensures the protection and proper development of Illinois' oil and gas resources, while protecting Illinois' environment, land, and water resources. The Office accomplishes this through its administrative, enforcement, permitting and technical services units. The Office has two district offices, Centralia and Mt. Office of Oil and Gas Resource Management
The Office of Oil and Gas Resource Management (OOGRM) is the regulatory authority in Illinois for permitting, drilling, operating, and plugging oil and gas production wells. The Office implements the Illinois Oil and Gas Act and enforces standards for the construction and operation of related production equipment and facilities. In addition, the Office regulates the injection of fluids into underground injection wells, through the UIC Program, and cleans up abandoned well sites through the PRF and Landowner Grant Programs.
